Hi, I’m Ophir Ravina, a cycling coach, biomechanics researcher, bike fitting specialist, and PhD candidate in physiotherapy.
I help road cyclists, mountain bikers, and triathletes optimize their performance, train efficiently, reduce injury risks, and achieve peak form for their key races and personal goals. Whether you are aiming for a national championship or preparing for your first endurance milestone, my mission is to build a precise, evidence-based process tailored to your unique lifestyle.
I work with athletes locally in Israel and internationally through online coaching, utilizing advanced data analysis, regular communication, and adaptive training structures.
A Science-Based, Athlete-First Approach
I believe that a great training plan goes far beyond numbers, watts, and heart rate zones. True performance optimization happens when advanced sports science meets the person behind the handlebars.
My coaching philosophy bridges the gap between academic research and real-world racing, focusing on:
Data-Driven Progression: Utilizing modern technological tools to monitor training load and recovery.
Injury Prevention & Biomechanics: Applying physiological and physiotherapy principles to ensure structural longevity and comfort.
Mental Preparation: Building the psychological resilience needed to face heavy training blocks and race-day pressure.
I have spent most of my life training and racing, primarily in mountain biking and road cycling, alongside running events and Ironman triathlons. This background helps me understand firsthand the challenges athletes face during demanding training periods, race preparation, and everyday life.
I have been coaching cyclists for over a decade, with a strong focus on long-term athlete development. Over the years, I have guided riders from their first technical skills on the bike to high-level racing, including National Championship titles, Junior World Cup participation, and representation at the European Mountain Bike Championships.
My coaching approach is personal, precise and flexible, taking into account each athlete’s physical ability, available time, motivation, mental state, injury history, and goals.
As part of my work with Sigma Cycling Club, I support riders through season planning, individualized training, race preparation, technical and tactical skill development, and international training camps and races designed to build competitive experience.
I had the privilege of working with the Israel Cycling Federation as a coach for the Israeli National Mountain Bike Team, supporting U19, U23, and Elite riders at international events, including UCI MTB World Cups, European Championships, and Olympic qualification events. Additionally, I led the U17 national team training program, establishing a year-round technical skills pathway to transition young talents into the sport's highest ranks.
My broad perspective on athlete development is backed by extensive academic education and continuous professional certifications:
PhD Candidate in Physiotherapy (Current)
M.P.E. in Sport Sciences
M.Sc. in Management
B.Ed. in Physical Education
Over the years, I have complemented my academic degrees with specialized certifications in cycling coaching, strength training, athletics coaching, medical massage, athletic strapping & clinical taping, NLP, and ODT. This allows me to analyze each rider from a 360-degree perspective: technique, bike fit, recovery, and long-term development.
For riders looking for hands-on technical skills, group dynamics, and a supportive community in Israel, I have been coaching Sigma Cycling Club since 2018.
Based in the Megiddo Regional Council and Jezreel Valley area (including the Carmel and Gilboa mountains), Sigma is one of Israel’s premier mountain bike and road cycling clubs.
Proven Track Record: Our riders have represented Israel at the European Championships, competed in Junior World Cups and won National Championships.
Holistic Ecosystem: The club combines structured group training, technical skills clinics, and personal guidance. Members also benefit from preferred service at our home bike shop and certified Shimano Service Center.
